AIMS
The International Society of Endocytobiology (Society for Symbiosis and Cell Research) (ISE) was founded 1983 in Tübingen during the Second International Colloquium on Endocytobiology. The Society aims to promote on the one hand the research of endocytobiology and of general (endo)symbiosis, and on the other the understanding of symbiotic interactions and of antisymbiotic processes (like intertaxonic combination) at the cellular level (e.g. physiological, biochemical and genetical aspects). This field of interest embraces both the significance of these interactions for host and symbiont, and their relevance to the origin and evolution of pro- and eukaryotic cells, including exogenosomes (cell organelles like chloroplasts) and exogenons (interspecific transferred whole genes or gene fragments), and furthermore related aspects of organismic and cellular biology (e.g. differentiation, dedifferentiation and rhythms). - The aims will be promoted by holding meetings, e.g. the triannual
International Colloquium on Endocytobiology and Symbiosis,
by publishing journals: ISE Letters (IJECR): the International Journal on
ENDOCYTOBIOSIS AND CELL RESEARCH,
and the ISE News Letters (in unconstrained corollary) and other items. The promotion comprises additionally the improvement of education in endocytobiology and general symbiology, furthermore the support of research e.g. by encouraging the closer cooperation of those researching in the fields of interest of the Society, and last not least the awarding of outstanding scientists with the
MIESCHER-ISHIDA-PRIZE.
The Society is purely scientific in purpose and there are no restrictions on membership through race, sex, political affiliation, creed, or nationality. The ISE promotes additionally the foundation of national sections.

Aims and Scope:
ENDOCYTOBIOSIS AND CELL RESEARCH, an international journal and organ of the International Society of Endocytobiology, aims to promote the flow of information and to stimulate the cooperation between SYMBIOSIS researchers and CELL biologists.
ENDOCYTOBIOSIS AND CELL RESEARCH will be (along with the ISE News Letters) a communication forum between all scientists (micro) biologists, biophysicists, biochemists, genetical, medical, veterinary researchers and molecular biologists) who are concerned with the origin, development, differentiation, evolution and phylogeny of endosymbioses (including endocytoparasitism) and of the eukaryotic cell (especially of exogenosomes and exogenons).
ENDOCYTOBIOSIS AND CELL RESEARCH will cover all classes of organismic systems, from virus to higher plants and animals. All topics in these areas of cellular and subcellular interactions will be considered, including the coevolution of virus, plasmone and genome; gene transfer within and between cells; protein and nucleic acid sequencing; morphological, physiological, ecological, and biochemical adaptations in the cell habitat, and analytical and culture methods.
ENDOCYTOBIOSIS AND CELL RESEARCH is committed to the publication of inductive as well as deductive original articles, short communications and reviews on special problems in the synthetic field of endocytobioses, intertaxonic combination, exogenosomes, exogenons and related cell research ("endocytobiology").
ENDOCYTOBIOSIS AND CELL RESEARCH is covered in Current Contents (CC/AB & ES) and the Science Citation Index
